Thermory® cladding

Our Thermory® cladding is produced through a non toxic process that cooks the wood in a kiln. In the absence of oxygen the structure of the cell wall components in the wood increases its durability. This results in a naturally durable lightweight wood that is permanently resistant to water, insects, and decay.

  • class 1 durability equal to IPE and Teak.

  • Rich colour, outstanding grain detail.

  • Thermory® timber is free from chemicals and harmless to use.

  • Responsibly sourced wood that does not originate from endangered rainforests.

Roofing

We use aluminium roofing sheets which give a modern contemporary finish. Aluminium has the highest strength to weight ratio of any metal, even superior to steel. It is also lightweight, non-combustible and non-flammable. Its superior strength combined with a great energy absorption level is perfect for our garden rooms.

  • Energy saving - aluminium reflects the sun, meaning the studio will remain cool in summer. It also helps maintain the heat inside the studio in the winter, reducing heating costs and saving energy.

  • Environmentally friendly - aluminium sheets used for roofing can consist of up to 90% recycled material, and can last up to 50 years.

Interior

Internal wall finish

As standard our walls are lined with a vapour barrier, plastered and painted white. All colours are possible.

We use sockets with USB ports, finished in matt black. Other options available.

Structure

Our structures are made with a traditional framework, rather than SIPS (structural insulated panels). Although SIPS are quick to install, they can vibrate which we feel can compromise the strength and stability. We use Treated Tallanised timber for the stud-work with a PIR hard insulation in between.

Interior walls - a vapour control layer is used to eliminate condensation problems in the future.

Outside structure - 18mm OSB boarding is used and finished with a black, breathable membrane.

Foundations

Another exciting product. Ground screws are designed for many applications including providing solid support for decking bases, fencing, garden offices, summerhouses, raised pathways etc. They provide superb stability, without the need for digging out foundations or use of concrete. Sloping sites can be levelled or even elevated.

Ground screws can be retracted out of the ground and are fully re-usable. By reducing impact and contamination, they are a more environmentally friendly option for your foundation.

Infrared Heating

Infrared heating panels are an efficient and innovative heating option, converting 98% of their energy into heat. An infrared panel is a stylish and highly controllable way to heat your space.

These slimline flat panels come with a 5 year warranty. All infrared panels are on ESG safety glass with a choice of a high quality matt or gloss finish. You can even have your favourite picture printed onto the screen.

Read more about infrared heating panels on The Green Age website and FAQs about infrared heating panels on Surya Heating website.

Floors & shadow gap

All our floor finishes are made from engineered boards. This allows for expansion and creates a better durability for daily foot traffic.

The construction of engineered floor boards forms a structure that keeps it from moving in temperature and humidity whereas solid flooring fluctuates more. The biggest difference between engineered and solid wood flooring is the price.

We do not use skirting or architrave. Everything is finished with a shadow gap. Shadow gaps provide the perfect finishing touch to a designed interior. They are a popular detail which neatly articulates the junction between wall and floor, making walls appear to ‘float’. This allows for movement between the two planes of the wall and the floor.

Glazing

We use powder coated UVPC and aluminium frames in our rooms. Our designs feature a selection of colours. All windows and doors supplied are certified under the 'Secured by Design’ scheme. They achieve an A* 10 energy rating, providing superb thermal insulation, for the best in energy efficiency and comfort .

ELECTRICS PICTO.png

Electrics

Lighting and finishes on sockets are sometimes overlooked. Good design is about noticing the small things.

All our garden rooms come with:

  • Consumer unit (fuse board - trip switching on each circuit).

  • Double wall matt black sockets with USB ports

  • Feed from the consumer unit that is brought to the outside of the building and terminated in comsumer unit and earth rod. It is now a simple case of connecting the cable from the house into the consumer unit.

  • Part P Building Regulation compliance test and certificate will be issued to you on receipt of your final payment.
